Repellents are just that, a repellent. They will not kill the undesirable pest but will help to deter them. The population and available food sources will be a factor in the effectiveness of the repellent in many cases. In addition, behavior modification techniques may be required in addition to the use of a repellent, particularly when trying to “retrain” domestic animals, to achieve the desired results.
Q. Something is eating all of my plants. What can I use to stop this?
A. Bonide has several repellents that you can use. Shotgun Deer & Rabbit Repellent, Shotgun Repels-All Animal Repellent, in both a liquid and a granular, and Shotgun Hot Pepper Wax can all be used either in or around both flower and vegetable gardens.
Q. I heard you have an all natural product that gets rid of mice. Can you tell me more about this?
A. The product is called No Escape Mouse Magic. It is made from all natural ingredients that when mixed together properly, trigger escape and avoidance behaviors in mice. It is packaged in convenient “place packs” that resemble tea bags. These “tea bags” can be “placed at strategic locations where mice like to enter dwellings.
Q. I have been using one of your repellents that worked very well at first but no longer seem to be as effective as it used to be. Why?
A. Animals will build up immunity to a particular repellent, especially as the populations increase and the food sources become scarcer. We suggest you try alternating the repellent you are using, Try alternating between Repels-All and Hot Pepper Wax or Deer and Rabbit Repellent, etc.
Q. Can I use Molemax in my vegetable garden? Is it safe for use around children & pets?
A. Molemax is best used as a border to vegetable gardens. This product is perfectly safe for use around children and pets. Molemax is a repellent made from all natural ingredients and is not harmful to animals or people.
Q. What can I do to keep cats and dogs out of my yard and/or gardens?
A. Apart from building a cage around the areas in question, you may have to experiment a bit until you find something that works. Bonide has several products including Shotgun Dog & Cat Repellent, Shotgun Rabbit and Dog Repellent, and Shotgun Repels-All Granules that you can put in and around the areas. Any, used in conjunction with other behavior modification techniques should help. You might also want to check with the local authorities and/or neighborhood association, as in some areas it is illegal to allow pets to roam.
Q. How can we control Squirrels in our gardens?
A. Some gardener’s report success using Bonide Shotgun Repels-All, Shotgun Hot Pepper Wax or Molemax. Mole & Vole Repellent. Others are convinced that feeding the squirrels keeps them happily away from the garden.
Q. What do you recommend for getting rid of moles, voles, or armadillos?
A. I would recommend using our Molemax Granules or Ready to Spray product if you just want to repel them. You may also want to use a grub killer such as Annual Grub, the all natural Grub Beater Ready to Spray or Eight Insect Control.
